Qur'an
The Qur'an is the most reliable source for Muslims, it has 114 Surah’s (chapters) The importance of the Quran is to live by what is says so that you will live a life with Allah pleased by you. Because Muhammad was illiterate the Quran had to be memorized back then, Zaid ibn Thabit made the first written version of the Quran, and made sure nothing was changed. The authority of the Quran cannot be questioned because it is believed that Allah would only apply these rules so that you can enter paradise. The Qur'an shouldn't be put on the ground and should not be touched for no reason. Women aren't supposed to touch the Quran when the are on there periods because they are unclean, also the Quran shouldn't be open unless you wash your hands or have a bath which symbolizes purity in Islam.
The term hadith means something that has been passed on and told, they are the words and actions of Muhammad. There are two types of Hadiths prophetic hadiths and sacred hadiths, the hadith Qudsi (sacred hadiths) are the most important because they are words from Allah, which were communicated to Muhammad. The Qudsi hadiths are the ones that all Muslims follow because they are most accurate and reliable. Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari is known to have collected 2762 hadiths, and Abdul Husayn Muslim ibn al – Hajjaj had 4000. These hadiths are so authentic that nobody has changed or doubts them because its known as a chain that’s been traced back to its emergence and someone who had actually been with the prophet, so they were very strict rules which is why these two are known to have the most accurate hadiths, but after Muhammad’s death over 600,000 hadiths where known yet many where false, although hadiths are not as sacred as the Quran to Muslims.
“Shall I seek other than God as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.” [Quran 6:114]
